Member of the PGA TOUR 1996-97, 1999-2000 and 2003-04. Member of the Nationwide Tour 1994-95, 1998 and 2001-02. Due to elbow injury, limited to 12 PGA TOUR events in 2004, with two made cuts. Best finish was T41 in first start of season at Sony Open in Hawaii. Underwent season-ending right elbow surgery on June 30 of 2004 to remove bone spurs. Surgery was performed by former TOUR player Dr. Bill Mallon in Durham, NC. Did some on-course commentary for USA Network. Regained his PGA TOUR card by finishing T7 at the 2003 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament.

Will receive a Major Medical Extension for 2005. Coupled with $26,420 earned in 12 events in 2004 has the opportunity to play in 17 events to earn $596,842 and match the $623,262 winnings of 2004's No. 125, Tag Ridings. If he does so, will play out of the Major Medical Extension category for the remainder of the season. Spent 2003 on the PGA TOUR, with one top-10, a T5 at the B.C. Open for eighth top-10 of his career on the PGA TOUR. Best finish since a T5 at the 1998 Deposit Guaranty Classic. Finished 48th on the 2002 Nationwide Tour money list with two top-10s including a season's best second at the Greater Richmond Open. Three-time winner on the Nationwide Tour. Most recent victory came at the 2001 Carolina Classic in Raleigh, NC, just a short drive from his hometown of Durham and residence in Greensboro. Had emotional year during the 1999 TOUR season. His best finish came at the Motorola Western Open in July. Caddie Garland Dempsey collapsed on the 15th hole during the third round. Dempsey's heart stopped and Maginnes and ABC spotter Matt Moore performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Dempsey underwent successful quadruple bypass surgery. Maginnes was able to pull himself together and complete a 1-under-par 71 round. Fired a 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish in sixth place. Held the 36-hole lead the following week at the Greater Milwaukee Open on his way to a T10 showing. Career-best finish on the PGA TOUR came at the 1996 rain-shortened Buick Challenge. Was one of five players to share the 36-hole lead. Both the third and fourth rounds were rained out, resulting in a five-man playoff, which was won by Michael Bradley. First victory on the Nationwide Tour came in 1995 San Jose Open where he defeated Larry Silveira by three strokes. Won the 1998 Dakota Dunes Open, chipping in for birdie on the second playoff hole to defeat Ryan Howison and Sean Murphy. Shot 10-under-par 62 in the first round at Dakota Dunes. Ended 1998 season fifth on the money list to regain his TOUR card.
