Made four cuts in eight starts on 2001 BUY.COM TOUR. Winner of 1996 Sprint International. Defeated Brad Faxon in playoff when he made putt from off the green for eagle. Prior to victory had finished second six times on the PGA TOUR. Played BUY.COM TOUR full time in 1995 and won Pensacola Classic. Winner of 1997 JCPenney Classic with Amy Fruwirth. Winner of 1979 North Carolina Amateur. All-America selection in 1980 at Clemson. Effectively left competitive golf in 1990 after learning 18-month-old son Clark had testicular cancer. Clark recovered, but Clarence played in just 18 TOUR events from 1992-95. Began Clarence Rose Foundation to help needy children in Wayne County, NC. |
