Break out your old Europe records because we’ve reached “The Final Countdown” for the FedExCup Playoffs, which get under way next week.
The Wyndham Championship marks the final event of the PGA TOUR season and the last opportunity for competitors to secure positions inside the FedExCup top 125 to lock up a tee time at The Barclays, which get under way on Aug. 22.
This week’s field boasts 49 of 50 competitors between 101st and 151st in the FedExCup ranks so plenty of excitement can be expected around the 125-man cut line.
That excitement was lacking last week when, oddly, the six competitors ranked between 120th and 125th in the standings remain unchanged. George McNeill (390 points), Scott Langley (386), Greg Chalmers (380) Stuart Appleby (372), Ben Crane (369) and Steven Bowditch (361) occupy the last six spots in the Playoffs if the season were to end today.
After his nine-position move last week, Peter Hanson has 356 points and is the biggest threat to those on the back end of the current top 125.
Below you'll find a list of a dozen players currently outside the FedExCup top 100, how high they could move with a finish of first-through-tenth place, and how far they could possibly fall if they do not earn any FedExCup points this week.
