The year’s second major is in the books and the PGA TOUR heads to Cromwell, Conn. for the Travelers Championship. This week’s event, the 26th of the PGA TOUR season, offers competitors yet another opportunity to gain some traction in the FedExCup race.

The FedExCup Playoffs get under way in just 10 weeks. That leaves just nine weeks (11 events) for competitors to solidify their positions inside the top 125 and secure a tee time at The Barclays.

This week’s field boasts 88 competitors outside the top 100 in the latest standings who could use a strong showing at TPC River Highlands.

Among them is current bubble boy (No. 125 in the standings) and 2006 Travelers Championship winner J.J. Henry. Born in Connecticut, Henry has made 10 consecutive cuts at this event and boasts five top-25 finish. His 47th-place showing in last year’s event was his worst at TPC River Highlands since 2008.

Also in the fray at No. 104 in the standings is Camilo Villegas, who has five top-30 finishes in 14 starts this year and is 2-for-2 at TPC River Highlands with a T21 in 2006 and a T29 in 2012. Another competitor who has seen two years of success in Connecticut is Tommy Gainey. After missed cuts in his first two trips to the Travelers, Gainey has gone T17-T18 in the last two years.

Rookies Ben Kohles and Morgan Hoffmann will also be looking to make a move this week. Kohles won his first two starts on the Web.com Tour last summer and could be ready to heat up again. Hofmann, though a rookie, has experience in this event where he carded four rounds in the 60s en route to a tie for 43rd in 2011.

Below you'll find a list of a dozen players currently outside the FedExCup top 100, how high they could move with a finish of first-through-tenth place, and how far they could possibly fall if they do not earn any FedExCup points this week.
