After a Regular Season where he accomplished everything short of winning, Justin Thomas earned his first career Web.com Tour victory this weekend at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship. Thomas and Richard Sterne finished regulation at 6-under 278 at Ohio State University Golf Club’s Scarlet Course, and Thomas won with a birdie on the first playoff hole, the par-4 18th.
Thomas’ victory comes as no surprise when examining his statistics for the week. The former University of Alabama player’s well-rounded game was on display at the Scarlet Course: he finished fourth in driving distance, fourth in driving accuracy, T5 in greens in regulation, and sixth in putts per green in regulation.
Thomas closed things out with a 3-footer for birdie on the first playoff hole, after Sterne had just missed a birdie try from about 30 feet. The Louisville, Kentucky, native moves to No. 4 in the Web.com Tour Finals Priority Ranking, with just one Finals event remaining: the Web.com Tour Championship at Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.
