Tiger Woods is no longer the only golfer on the planet with his own signature golf shoe. ECCO announced on Tuesday that Fred Couples will have his own signature BIOM Hybrid shoe that will be limited to only 275 pairs (275 was Couples' winning score at the 1992 Masters). Couples will wear the shoe next week at Augusta
“This project is a testament to our remarkable relationship with Fred and his dynamic, longstanding connection with golf fans around the world,” said Michael Waack, head of global golf at ECCO. “Fred’s power to capture the popular imagination ignited the hybrid footwear revolution, so it’s fitting that we commemorate his latest trip to Augusta National with a very special shoe.”
The limited-edition model comes in a white/green colorway that celebrates the year's first major and Couples' 1992 win. Each shoe also has Couples' laser-engraved signature on the outer side of the yak leather upper, with a serial number on the inner side.
Other features include a low-profile design, Direct Injection for cushioning and ECCO's E-DTS outsole that has approximately 100 molded traction bars and 800 traction angles for improved traction and support. HYDROMAX weather protection and a triple-component climate control fiber system keep the interior portion of the shoe cool and dry.
The limited-edition Fred Couples signature model is currently available for pre-sale at PGA TOUR Superstore and retails for $275.
