HUMBLE, Texas — Callaway's Mack Daddy 2 wedge lineup is expanding with the addition of a fourth grind option called the "Tour Grind." Unveiled this week at the Shell Houston Open, the TOUR-only model, which is forged from 1020 carbon steel, has a similar head shape to the popular X-Forged wedge that featured a tighter heel-toe radius for increased versatility.
According to Callaway Tour Reps, the wedge also has a straighter leading edge that sits tight against the turf, and a C-Grind sole. The C-Grind is a versatile grind that has additional relief on the heel and toe of the club, allowing players to hit open face shots without having the bounce come into play.
Some of the cosmetic differences include a neon yellow paint fill and "R Design" stamped on the back of the head (the initial version had "Designed by Roger Cleveland" on the head).
Players in the field received a full set of wedges this week. Callaway reps confirmed Tour Grind — the wedge was available in 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60 degrees for players — is TOUR-only model for the moment.
