For the first time in six years, Miura Golf is debuting a new blade iron called the MB001 muscleback. Along with the Tournament Blade and the Series 1957 Small Blade, the MB001 will be just the third forged blade model in Miura's lineup.

"We don't automatically bring out a new blade every year, so this is a big event," said Adam Barr, Miura Golf's president. "The only calendar we operate on is the one in the minds of the Miuras. When they say a club is ready, we go. The MB001 contains the benefits of all the lessons we have learned in watching irons perform, since the Tournament Blade came out in 2007 and the Small Blade arrived in 2006."

The MB001 muscleback features a few minor tweaks to the sole and appearance at address. The size and shape of the sole was altered slightly in an effort to improve turf interaction and give players a better chance of keeping the clubface square at impact.

An improved hosel-to-leading edge blend reduces the appearance of offset, and a more upright appearance at impact, according to Muira, "helps players feel secure standing over the ball, allowing them to swing away with confidence."

The iron also includes a number of classic Miura traits with the narrow top line and clean, minimalistic look. Compared to the company's current forged iron options, the MB001 has a clubhead that is nearly the same length heel-to-toe as the Tournament Blade.

Miura's MB001 muscleback will be available Nov. 4 with a suggested retail price of $235 per iron.
