ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Tiger Woods made notable equipment changes at two of the three major championships this year, adding Nike's VR_S Covert 3-wood to the bag at the Masters and a VR_S Covert Tour prototype driver at The Open Championship.
He won't, however, be making it three out for majors with an equipment switch. Woods confirmed during his Tuesday press conference at the PGA Championship that he's standing pat with the same bag setup he had at The Open Championship.
"It's the same setup," Woods said. "I even played The Open Championship with the same setup. I didn't use a 2-iron over there. I just used the 5-wood. I just thought even there, the fairways were actually too fast. I couldn't stop the 2-iron, it was actually going too far. So the 5-wood was a little bit softer. And I used the same setup at Firestone and the same setup here."
Woods also noted he put some fresh Nike VR Pro wedges in the bag at Firestone -- a move that was likely made in preparation for the thick, gnarly rough around the greens at Oak Hill.
