Cleveland releases wedge fitting app

By Jonathan Wall, PGATOUR.COM Equipment Insider

Over the last year, equipment companies from TaylorMade to Ping to Fujikura have released free product apps aimed at helping golfers optimize their game. On Tuesday, Cleveland Golf joined the app game with the release of its new wedge fitting application and fitting system.

The Cleveland wedge fitting app — available in smartphone, tablet and computer-friendly versions — will allow consumers, club fitters and dealers to select the a proper wedge set with more confidence. Once the golfer has determined the correct model, loft and bounce, the wedge can then be customized in a few simple steps for lie angle, shaft and grip.

“It’s no secret that a player's wedge game is critical to scoring and performance,” said Todd Harman, President of Cleveland Golf/Srixon - U.S.A. “We’ve raised the bar with wedge innovations over the years such as multiple bounce options, Zip Grooves, cool finishes and now Rotex technology. With the introduction of our new fitting system and fitting application, we’ve made it easier than ever for any player to use the right set of wedges and get the correct loft gapping throughout their entire set. This is a game-changer for us and the equipment industry.”

Along with the wedge fitting app, Cleveland also announced the addition of a golf fitting system, which features interchangeable wedges, which the company noted was an industry-first.

The new Fitting Carts and Fitting Displays offer interchangeable wedge heads that are available in a number of loft, bounce, lie angle and model options, and are accompanied by a variety of interchangeable wedge shafts. The interchangeable wedges feature identical specs to the wedges players will use on the course.
