The Classic Club at Northstar is an Arnold Palmer-designed public course in Rancho Mirage, Calif., that opened in November and is an atypical desert design. Though the par-72 course can be stretched to 7,536 yards, it will be set up at a still daunting 7,305 yards with an intricate network of 30 acres of water features that come into play on 13 holes. Some dramatic contours and significant tree coverage mostly pines, pepperwoods and olives makes for a strong driving test. The 163-yard, par-3 12th hole, decorated with waterfalls, is just one of the visually enticing tests.

First known as the Northstar Course, the Classic Club at NorthStar was gifted to the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in December, 2004, making it the only tournament-owned facility on the PGA TOUR. It replaces the Arnold Palmer Course at PGA West as the host venue after a six-year period. Since the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic began in 1960 and was won by Palmer, who captured the title five times it has been contested on eight different courses before this year's introduction of the Classic Club. Bermuda Dunes Country Club, La Quinta Country Club and the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA West round out the course rotation.
