Course Overview
EDS Byron Nelson Championship

The Tournament Players Course at the Four Seasons Las Colinas Resort in Irving, Texas, has hosted the EDS Byron Nelson Championship since it opened in 1986. It features tree-lined fairways, large and undulating greens and is further complicated by a number of creeks and ponds, making it difficult to overpower. One of the tougher holes is No. 3, a 490-yard, par 4, which is crowded by a bunker on the left and water down the right side. The 440-yard par-4 closing hole now features a one-acre lake on the left that threatens tee shots. Another change was the addition of 35 yards and a right fairway bunker at the uphill par-4 12th which doglegs right. Wind is a definite factor on the par-70 design that now measures 7,057 yards, but the entrances to the greens are open to permit run-up shots.

COURSE HISTORY
Jay Morrish, with assists from Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw, designed the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas in 1986 and since then a series of upgrades and the dedication to upkeep traditionally made it it one of the best conditioned courses on the PGA TOUR. The first change came in 1993 with a lake installed near the 17th green, and six years later a renovation included bunker improvements and the addition of hundreds of trees. Three men, Justin Leonard, Billy Mayfair, and Charlie Rymer all have shot 61 to share the course record. It was ranked the 27th most difficult course on the TOUR in 2005, two ahead of its sister layout, Cottonwood Valley.
