Pablo Longueira, Minister of Economy and Tourism, expressed on Tuesday that Chile Classic is one the most effective events to insert the country's image abroad and as a promoter for golf in all social sectors, during the inauguration of a putting green at the school Boston College of La Farfana in Maipu.
Longueira, who took some swings with the kids during the inauguration of the practice green, explained, "The Chile Classic is one of the biggest showcases in the world to promote our country. Last year we had 3.5 million visitors to Chile and next year we expect 4 million." He added, "This is because we changed the strategy about where to promote the country and this tournament allows us to do it in big markets."
The Minister said, "I hope every school in Chile could invest in sport's infrastructure as Boston College does. I'm glad that these kinds of events are done because it helps some socialy neglected sectors access golf. This sport is popular and massive worldwide and hopefully it will also be like that in Chile."
Chile Classic Tournament Director, Alejandro Peric, said, "This tournament not only allows us to see great figures and show Chile to the world. It also allows us to do these social actions to take golf all over the country. That's also part of Chile Classic."
After the inauguration of the court, there was a kid's clinic led by Chileans Felipe Aguilar, Benjamin Alvarado, Juan Cerda and Chilean No. 1 Women, Paz Echeverria. Also Americans Ben Martin, Ryan Spears and Brice Garnett participated.ipu.
