PGATOUR.COM will have expert picks and sleepers for each Nationwide Tour event this year. Our experts -- Nationwide Tour producer Ceri Mobley and former Nationwide Tour and PGATOUR.COM employee Jordan Crampton -- will each choose two players they consider favorites that week and a sleeper pick (a player who is not inside "THE 25"). Here are their selections for this week's Christmas in October Classic presented by Kansas City Crusaders.
Crampton's picks Mobley's picks
Henrik Bjornstad. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Bjornstad is finding his form at a crucial point in the schedule; he's now inside "THE 25" and playing with tons of confidence. This is a new stop on Tour, so rolling with the hot hand seems like a smart choice where no one should have any clear advantage.
Dave Schultz. Of course Michael Sim missed the cut the week I had him. I think he and Jordan are in cahoots. But Sim doesn't have the hot streak coming in that Schultz has: In his last three starts, he has tied for third, second and fifth; and last week in Missouri, he shot a blistering 63 in Round 2. Yes please.
Michael Sim. No surprises here taking Sim. He's coming off a brilliant final-round 71 at the PGA Championship, and he has shown all season that he is the real deal.A win here would get Sim his battlefield promotion, and he can head to the TOUR earlier than expected and all but lock up Player of the Year honors.
Tom Gillis. Just like my worthy opponent, I am sticking with the hot hands for this new event. Another guy who has been getting tantalizingly close recently is Gillis. He has a solo second and ties for 31st and third since his win back in June. I would not be surprised to see Gillis raise a trophy again this season.
Crampton's sleeper Mobley's sleeper
Craig Bowden. This is a bit of a stretch as Bowden has only notched one top-10 all season, but he's been very consistent as of late, with four top-25s in his past eight events and just one missed cut. Bowden has been quietly climbing the money list all season; if he can keep up his momentum, he will be in great position to reach "THE 25" by season's end.
Dustin Risdon. The Canadian rookie is just outside "THE 25" at 27th on the money list, and apart from a couple of missed cuts in the last few months, Risdon has been consistently solid. He has ties for 15th, 11th, ninth, 12th and a solo seventh dating back to mid June. Hopefully that's the player I'll see this week -- not the one who misses the weekend by a hair.
