PGATOUR.COM will have expert picks and sleepers for each Nationwide Tour event this year. Our experts -- Nationwide Tour producer Ceri Mobley and marketing assistant Jordan Crampton, who formerly worked for the Nationwide Tour -- will each choose two players they consider favorites that week and a sleeper pick (a player who is not inside "THE 25"). Here are their selections for this week's Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by Dynamic Industries.
Crampton's picks Mobley's picks
Casey Wittenberg. You read correctly: Casey Wittenberg is teeing it up on the Nationwide Tour this week. The '08 Tour grad has done well on the PGA TOUR this season, making five of seven cuts. Wittenberg made the cut here last season, and if he continues his solid play, he will find himself in the winners' circle for his first Nationwide Tour win.
Ryan Hietala. Yes, I am upgrading Ryan Hietala from sleeper (thanks, Ryan, for your performance in the New Zealand PGA) to expert -- partially because he is no longer eligible, and partially because he has won here in Louisiana before. He's only made one of four cuts, so it's a risky move, but last time I put my faith in him, he did me proud with a T4.
Henrik Bjornstad. This Nationwide Tour veteran has made all four cuts this season and has placed in the top 10 twice. He is currently 10th on the Money List, and a win here would put Henrik in the driver seat for making "THE 25" and moving onto the PGA TOUR next season.
Daniel Summerhays. He's a little unpredictable right now: He's made two cuts and missed two cuts so far this season, but I like the sound of that T4 he scored in Australia, and he tied for 15th at Le Triomphe last year, so he knows how to handle this tough track.
Crampton's sleeper Mobley's sleeper
Matt Every. Sophomore Every has made half his cuts this season and is currently sitting 36th on the Money List. He tied for seventh here last season, and both times he's made the cut this year, he has finished inside the top 25. Don't be surprised if Every is in the hunt if he makes it to the weekend.
Gavin Coles. Lucky me. Not only did I get the first pick because I am currently kicking Crampton's hiney, I also was fortunate enough to discover that the defending champion is in the field and eligible as a sleeper pick. Just outside "THE 25," Coles is calling my name. Don't let me down, buddy.
