Boise, August 4, 2008: The PGA TOUR, owner and operator of the Nationwide Tour, and Jeff Sanders Promotions, the tournament management firm of the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft, announced the complete tournament week schedule today for the 2008 event. Tournament Week, September 8-14, is packed with Something for Everyone furthering the event's reputation as more than a golf tournament, but truly a community-wide special event. The event is focused on providing the Treasure Valley with an opportunity to see the future stars of the PGA TOUR while generating hundreds of thousands of dollars for deserving charities throughout the state of Idaho in a social and fun environment for all who attend. Over the years, the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft has provided over $8.5 million dollars and growing to non-profit organizations throughout the Treasure Valley and Idaho.
"Alumni of the Nationwide Tour and the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft have captured over 230 PGA TOUR victories, including all four major championships. In the best interest of the tournament, the focus this year will be on the Nationwide Tour professionals, fan experience and charitable results of the event," said Jeff Sanders, CEO and President of Jeff Sanders Promotions. "I encourage all the passionate sports and golf fans in Boise and the Treasure Valley to come out and watch the future stars of the PGA TOUR perform all week at Hillcrest. We appreciate the great support throughout the years."
Tournament week will kick-off on Monday with professional practice rounds at Hillcrest Country Club all day. This is a wonderful opportunity to come see and get up close to the Nationwide Tour professionals in a relaxed atmosphere, gather autographs and identify your favorite player for the week. Tuesday features the Hershey Company Pro-Am at Crane Creek Country Club and the ever popular Idaho Statesman Junior Clinic at Hillcrest Country Club. The Clinic is a terrific event and way to introduce young people to the game of golf as Nationwide Tour professionals host an informative and fun demonstration. Wednesday features the Hershey Company Pro-Am round on the tournament course at Hillcrest Country Club. This is wonderful opportunity to see just how tough Hillcrest Country Club is during tournament week as the Nationwide Tour professionals play with the amateur sponsors in a fun-filled day. The cameras turn on Thursday as the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft starts with the Nationwide Tour professionals vying for their share of the record $725,000 purse and specifically the $130,500 first place prize. Golf Channel will again broadcast all four rounds (Thursday-Sunday) and showcase Boise to over 110 million subscribers internationally. However, golf is not the only focus Thursday-Sunday as the social atmosphere kicks into high gear with the Pepsi Pavilion providing upscale concessions in a comfortable atmosphere open to all ticket holders all four days, SUPERVALU Saturday, and the Bisquick Breakfast at Hillcrest on Sunday. There truly is Something for Everyone at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft.
One special event that has been removed from the schedule for 2008 is the Shoot-Out. "We felt the dramatic increase in costs associated with the production and broadcast of this year's Shoot-Out would affect the charitable outcome for the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft. Consequently, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Shoot-Out. The 2007 Shoot-Out was a tremendous success and we are very proud of the incredible run of this special event," said Jeff Sanders.
Tickets for the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft are available now through over 100 local area charities participating in the Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY"! program where 100 percent of the proceeds of tickets sold go directly to charity and at the tournament's website, www.albertsonsboiseopen.com. In addition to receiving 100% of tickets sales, the charities also receive a percentage of the $50,000 Bonus Pool provided by SUPERVALU and Sara Lee based on an individual charity's percentage of total ticket sales.
The growth of the popular Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY"! program has been a catalyst for the tournament's growth in charity contributions since the program's inception in 2001 and will not be negatively affected by the removal of the Shoot-Out from the schedule since the Shoot-Out was a free (no ticket required) special event.
