The Tour Report

July 12 2013

7:37 PM Tour's Collins just misses 59

After nine birdies and an eagle over his first dozen holes, Chad Collins needed one more birdie to become just the fourth player in Tour history to shoot 59.

Instead, he made six straight pars to finish for a career-best 60 at the Utah Championship Presented by Utah Sports Commission.

Collins went out in 27, tying a Tour record for nine holes, with seven birdies and an eagle on the back nine at Willow Creek Country Club (click here for his scorecard).

After a par on the par-5 first hole, the 59 watch resumed when he added two more birdies on the par-3 second and par-5 third. The 34-year-old couldn't add to it, however.

Collins' first-nine 27 matches the record set by Notah Begay III and Doug Dunakey in 1998. Both went on to shoot 59. Jason Gore also recorded a 59, in 2005.
