PGA TOUR pros joined their wives for the 2013 Wiffle Ball Classic, a humorously-heated battle of husbands and male students from nearby Altama Elementary School against wives and female students. Fans, friends and family congregated at Frederica Academy Baseball Field on St. Simons Island for the game and cookout, which raised more than $20,000 for “Blessings in a Backpack” at the school.

The PGA TOUR Wives Association and its volunteer members raise millions of dollars for charity. Three TOUR wives -- Amy Wilson (wife of Mark), Sybi Kuchar (wife of Matt) and Dowd Simpson (wife of Webb) -- joined "CBS This Morning" on Friday to discuss their life on road and their new book, "Beyond the Fairways and Greens: A Look Inside the Lives of PGA Tour Families."

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Since its release earlier this year, "Beyond the Fairways and Greens: A Look Inside the Lives of PGA TOUR Families" – a book written by the PGA TOUR Wives Association to recognize its 25th anniversary – has received positive reviews and been a steady seller to the point that the association hopes to go to reprint later this year.
“Without exception, everyone who has taken the time to read the book has been blown away,” PGA TOUR Wives Association Executive Director Sara Moores said.
Indeed. On Amazon.com, there are currently 12 reviews of the book, and each review comes with a 5-star rating. Responses such as "beyond expectations," "best golf book ever," "a must have for golf fanatics" have been offered about the book.
Reviewers also noted that net proceeds from sales of the book will go to charity. In the past 25 years, the PGA TOUR Wives Association has raised more than $5 million.
The book, essentially a family album, tells the story of life outside of the ropes from a unique perspective of the PGA TOUR pros and their families. Personal photographs and stories from the families grace the pages of the book. The book also illustrates the association’ 25-year history of charitable work and hundreds of charities and the lives of thousands of children and families in need that have been impacted by that work.
In the planning stages of this project, the original intent was to create a follow-up to the first book, "Taste of the TOUR", a cookbook that was published in 2000. More than 20,000 copies of "Taste of the TOUR" were sold, a very successful fundraiser for the organization.
As the project progressed, it developed into much more than the original expectations -- it also became a celebration of the 25 years as a non-profit organization. While the organization still paid homage to "Taste of the TOUR," with the recipes that were collected, "Beyond the Fairways and Greens" focuses more on the story of the PGA TOUR Wives Association.
