Sleeper Picks: RBC Heritage
Bob Estes ... Quietly enjoying his age-47 season on the PGA TOUR. He's 7-for-8 with a year-best T7 at the Valero Texas Open in his last start. The Texan converted all 59 of his putts from inside eight feet at TPC San Antonio. He ranked third for the week in strokes gained-putting. Currently fifth on TOUR in scrambling and 26th in scoring average. Eight top 25s in 21 appearances at Harbour Town, including a T24 last year.
Harris English ... Of the 27 rookies that have teed it up in this event in the last two years, he's the only to post a top 20 (T8, 2012). Long off the tee -- he ranked second in distance at Harbour Town last year -- he also finished third in greens in regulation for the week. Now in his sophomore season, he's maintaining a stout career cuts-made percentage of 81.6 (31-for-38). Extremely consistent throughout his bag past the driver, and then packs a little punch with his putter as well.
Erik Compton ... Returns after nearly three full weeks off. Withdrew after one round of the Shell Houston Open due to an illness. Prior to that, he tore up the Florida Swing that included a trip to Puerto Rico. He went 4-for-4 with three top 25s and now sits 60th in FedExCup points. The first-timer at Harbour Town ranks 36th on the PGA TOUR in greens in regulation, 35th in adjusted scoring and T11 in par-4 scoring average.
Greg Chalmers ... His T20 at Harbour Town last year was a personal best on the track among seven cuts made in eight starts. He ranked T18 in fairways hit and 14th in strokes gained-putting for the week. This season, he's 6-for-9 with two top 10s and sits third on TOUR in strokes gained-putting, 15th in scrambling and 46th in adjusted scoring.
Richard H. Lee ... Making his debut at Harbour Town. Sitting 16th on TOUR in fairways hit and 19th in greens in regulation, he should enjoy and thrive in its cozy confines. Also arrives following a break from a solo 13th at the Valero Texas Open where he ranked T2 in fairways, T13 in GIR and 13th in strokes gained-putting. Seven of his 18 cuts made on the PGA TOUR have resulted in a top-15 finish.
