Masters champion Bubba Watson returned home Thursday to a hero's welcome. Watson, a native of Bagdad, Fla., visited local schools and threw out the first pitch at the Pensacola Blue Wahoos game. He also was presented a proclamation declaring him a "Hometown Hero” by the Escambia County Board of Commissioners.
Watson visited Bagdad Elementary School and Milton High School, donating $15,000 and $35,000 to each school, respectively. He also took a class picture with each grade at Bagdad Elementary and bought pizza for Milton High's approximately 1,700 students, according to Golf Channel's Todd Lewis, who accompanied Watson on his hometown tour. Watson also spoke to the golf teams at Milton High, his alma mater.
Watson has six PGA TOUR victories, including the 2012 and 2014 Masters.
