The “Christmas Season” usually starts in our home the day after Halloween! And that is only because John will not let me put decorations up before then! Yes, we are those crazy people that have a Scarecrow & Santa “duking it out” on the front porch.

Christmas to us, isn’t about exchanging gifts, it’s spending time with our family and celebrating our Savior’s birth. In fact, we have a pretty strict rule in our house that the adults DO NOT purchase gifts for each other.

The week before Christmas we typically head to our lake house in East Texas, where we spend time making cookies and candy & preparing for the festivities. John’s parents usually come down from Richmond this week as well. We are so fortunate that our parents understand our crazy travel schedule throughout the year and allow us to stay in our home while they come to us. Such a blessing!

Christmas Eve we all gather at my Gran’s home for an evening of delicious food, bingo, and catching up with family. She has put on this EXTRAVAGANZA for as long as I can remember. Once our bellies are full and the sun goes down, we head back to the lake to get ready for bed.

Christmas morning is so magical! There is nothing better than seeing that excitement on a child’s face. While the guys get toys out of their boxes and assembled, the girls start on breakfast. We spend most of the day in our pajamas, just relaxing and cherishing time with our family.
