“It is our pleasure to welcome Matt Kuchar, Dustin Johnson and Bill Haas back to Kapalua for the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions,” said Executive Director Nancy Cross. “These three players are great additions to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions field and will bring excitement to Kapalua as we kick off the 2013 FedExCup season on the PGA TOUR.”

Matt Kuchar got off to a great start at the beginning of his 2012 season. Before his win at THE PLAYERS, he posted three top-10 finishes with his best finish (T3) coming at The Masters. He finished the season with a total of nine top-10s. This will be Kuchar’s third consecutive trip to Kapalua for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, he has previously finished in the top 10 both times with his best finish (3rd) coming in 2010.

Dustin Johnson was off to a hot start in 2012 before he had to take nearly three months off due to injury. Before he was sidelined, Johnson recorded three straight top-10 finishes with his best finish (T4) coming at the Northern Trust Open. In his second event back Johnson fired rounds of 67-66 on the weekend to take home the title at the FedEx St. Jude Classic to earn a place in this prestigious field. As a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2012, Johnson finished with an impressive 3-0 record in his matches. This will be Johnson's third time playing in Kapalua with his best finish (T9) coming in 2011.

Perhaps one of the most exciting finishes came at the Northern Trust Open where Bill Haas defeated Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley in a playoff. Haas rolled in a 43-foot bomb on the second playoff hole to defeat the two U.S. Ryder Cup team members. Haas will tee it up at Kapalua for the third time in his career with his best finish (8th) coming in 2011. He will be looking to get off to a hot start in hopes of making the U.S. Presidents Cup team for 2013.

To start the first competitive round of the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions in style, an Aloha Kick-Off featuring a traditional Hawaiian Blessing will precede the first tee time on Friday, Jan. 4, by approximately 40 minutes.

Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua Cultural Advisor Clifford Naeole and the cast of Ulalena will perform the blessing. The Aloha Kick-Off will also feature performances by Grammy award winner and slack key guitarist George Kahumoku and Na Hoku award winner vocalist and songwriter Amy Hanaiali’i, who will sing Hawaii Ponoi and the National Anthem.
