How will the local players (including Love, who is hosting the event) fare on a short week following the Ryder Cup?
EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR on-site correspondent John Maginnes previews Thursday's action:
Temp: 80 high/55 low
Chance of precipitation 0 percent. Winds from N around 10 mph.
There is a great sense of anticipation on the eve of the inaugural McGladrey Classic at Sea Island. Davis and Mark Love have, along with the entire community of St. Simon's Island, pulled together with McGladrey to showcase the island, the resort and the Seaside Course. It has undoubtedly been a labor of love...and yes you will hear that phrase again this week ad nauseam.
There is a lot to be proud of here. The golf course is ready with bermuda rough and slick greens that will be complimented with a winds off the Atlantic. The winds and the greens give the advantage to the those with a little local knowledge. One thing the players will have to keep in mind is that the salty air is heavy, almost like the west coast in February. Although it is warm and sunny the ball just doesn't travel as far this time of year on the Georgia. Adjustments will have to be made and those who live here (and there are a dozen) and those who visit often (countless more) will have a distinct advantage.
For the players who have utilized their practice rounds well and spent plenty of time golf's finest driving range they will be equipped. Before the first shot has been hit the players are already raving about the hospitality, the golf course and most of all the practice facility.

It will be interesting to see how low the best players in the world will be able to go here. My guess is the winning score will be somewhere in the low teens. But as usual there will be low scores early because someone always gets hot. I wouldn't expect it to be one of the three guys (Davis, Kuchar or Zach Johnson) who just got back from Wales. They all looked exhausted on Wednesday.
