In the PGA TOUR Season, one week can cancel out months of disappointment and make a FedExCup contender out of anyone.
Take, for example, Jordan Spieth, a special temporary member who would become a full member – and Playoffs-eligible -- with a victory at any point this season. Without a victory, he cannot compete at The Barclays although he’s got five top-10 finishes on the year.
Someone who is eligible to compete in the FedExCup Playoffs but hadn’t had much 2013 success prior to last week is Jonas Blixt. The TOUR sophomore was without a top-10 finish on the year before claiming victory at The Greenbrier Classic. In turn, he shot from 139th (and out of the Playoffs) to 39th (a Playoff lock) in the FedExCup standings.
One of four co-runners-up at The Old White TPC, Johnson Wagner climbed 41 positions to 104th in the latest FedExCup standings. Entering last week, Wagner was in quite a slump, missing out on the weekend in seven consecutive starts and still searching for his first top-10 of the season. He opened with a 62 at The Greenbrier and is now in great position to qualify for The Barclays in late August.
With just six weeks (and eight events) remaining before the FedExCup Playoffs, those big moves are that much more important.
Below are the biggest movers, both up and down, following The Greenbrier Classic.
