JOHN ROLLINS. Recent form has not been great, missing three of his past four cuts, but always turns it on at Montreux where he was runner-up in 2008 and took the title in '09. Ranked second in total driving and ninth in ball striking, and will be right there if he rolls it.

Brian
Wacker
BILLY HORSCHEL. He tied for 10th last year in Reno and has played significantly better of late with a third-place finish in Mississippi and a final-round 64 in Canada last week. He's seventh in total driving and 21st in greens in regulation.
If Wacker had the top pick ... Horschel
Bill
Cooney
J.B. HOLMES. Holmes is fifth in driving distance, 30th in eagles, 37th in birdie average and 63rd in Strokes Gained-Putting. Add it up and you get -- I hope -- a solid selection for the Modified Stableford format.
If Cooney had the top pick ... Holmes
Chris
Dunham
PADRAIG HARRINGTON. Paddy is sixth in scoring average at a place where you need to score in a big way. Maybe he's not the Riverboat gambler-type that this format usually favors -- but I'm giving him a go anyway.
If Dunham had the top pick ... Harrington
Anne
Szeker
CHRIS KIRK. Kirk is arguably the hottest player coming into this week. He's finished T30, T10 and T4 in his last three starts. The T4 was thanks to four rounds in the 60s at tough Hamilton, including a 63 on Saturday.
If Szeker had the top pick ... Kirk
Helen
Ross
TROY MATTESON. It's been feast or famine for Matteson this year with 11 missed cuts in 24 starts. But he's cashed checks in his last five starts -- losing in a playoff at the John Deere Classic -- and tied for 10th last week.
If Ross had the top pick ... Harrington
Mike
McAllister
PAT PEREZ. With the Modified Stableford system, I just looked for the player in the field who has the best birdie average this year. That would be Perez, who ranks tied for 19th overall on TOUR. Oh, and he finished second here last year.
If McAllister had the top pick ... Perez
Ryan
Smithson
STEVEN BOWDITCH. Call it a hunch. This big guy birdies his par 5s at a 60 percent rate. That leads everyone on TOUR, even Bubba Watson (54 percent). The Aussie will be hitting wedges into most of the par 4s at Montreux. I think this format will be great for him.
If Smithson had the top pick ... Rollins
John
Schwarb
JOSH TEATER. My original pick, Jeff Overton, withdrew late Tuesday, so i am plugging in Teater, who finished a sneaky T4 last week in Canada. Teater tied for 10th at the Reno-Tahoe Open in 2011.
If Schwarb had the top pick ... Rollins
Amanda
Balionis
JOHN DALY. Who doesn't root for Daly? With two top 25s in nine starts and his final round 66 at the RBC Canadian Open, the Reno-Tahoe Open could be the perfect place for a comeback victory.
If Balionis had the top pick ... Daly
Lauren
Deason
SEUNG-YUL NOH. He's been on a roll with 12 straight cuts made and it seems as if there's no end in sight. I'm confident that he'll perform well again -- even with a different scoring format.
If Deason had the top pick ... Noh

LAST WEEK: Lauren Deason took over the top spot, this after selecting Scott Piercy to win the RBC Canadian Open. A great pick, indeed. Ryan Smithson wasn't pleased when he heard the news, but he's hoping to regain his top perch with a two-event week ahead.
