World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh will make his Champions Tour debut at the Pacific Links Hawai‘i Championship on Sept. 16-22 at Kapolei (Hawaii) Golf.
Singh, who turned 50 in February, has played in 19 PGA TOUR events this year, with a best finish was T-20 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Singh, the 2008 FedExCup champion, finished 146th in the FedExCup this season,failing to qualify for the Playoffs.
"I am very pleased to be playing my first Champions Tour event in Hawai'i at the Pacific Links Hawai'i Championship," said Singh. He won 34 PGA TOUR titles, including three majors (2000 Masters; 1998 and 2004 PGA Championship). He was No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for 32 weeks in 2004 and 2005.
Singh is up against a deeply talented field in his first Champions Tour event. The top three players in the the Charles Schwab Cup standings -- Kenny Perry, Bernhard Langer and David Frost – are scheduled to play the Pacific Links Hawai’I Championship. Singh will also face fellow World Golf Hall of Fame members Isao Aoki, Sandy Lyle, Tom Kite, Nick Price and Hale Irwin, as well as the inaugural Pacific Links Hawai‘i Championship defending champion Willie Wood.
Four events remain on the Champions Tour schedule between the Pacific Links Hawai’I Championship and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at San Francisco’s TPC Harding Park.
