SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Charles Schwab Cup Championship will honor the Armed Forces with Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, Nov. 3, highlighted by a ceremony on the back of No. 9 green before the start of the day's competition and an F-16 flyover by the U.S. Air Force's 944th Fighter Wing of Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. The ceremony will commence at 9:30 a.m. with Senior Airmen Melinda Charlton of the 944th Fighter Wing singing the National Anthem and the Luke Air Force Base Honor Guard from the 56th Fighter Wing presenting the colors.
The Charles Schwab Cup Championship, the culminating event of the Champions Tour's 2012 season, visits the Cochise Course at Desert Mountain Club for the first time this week, Oct. 29-Nov. 4.
Featured speakers at the Military Appreciation Ceremony include Charles Schwab Cup Championship Executive Director Ian Knight and Colonel Jose Monteagudo, 944th Fighter Wing Commander. The Military Appreciation Ceremony will conclude prior to 10:00 a.m. PT when the third round of competition is scheduled to begin. Uniformed military personnel will also be on hand Saturday and Sunday at No. 18 green to announce the competitors as the pairings reach the green.
All Active Duty, Guard, Reserve and retired members of the military, and their dependents, receive complimentary admission to the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Complimentary admission for Military personnel will be offered throughout tournament week at the Cochise Course at the Desert Mountain Club through the final day of competition, Sunday, Nov. 4. Active Duty, Guard, Reserve and retired military members and their dependents will need to display their Department of Defense issued military I.D. at the main gate to pick up their complimentary tickets.
Current military service is defined as currently serving in one of the five branches of the U.S. military, identified by a Department of Defense Common Access Card. Retired military are defined as an individual that has retired with more than 20 years of service or medically retired and in possession of a retiree I.D. card.
