SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Military Appreciation Day will take place on Friday, April 22 at the 2011 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, with a ceremony to take place on the 18th green immediately following the conclusion of play. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors, singing of the national anthem, an invocation by a military chaplain and a special keynote speaker, all from Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.
The Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf is proud to invite all active duty, retired and reserve members of the military, and their dependents, to the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa free of charge. Members of the military will also enjoy free on-site parking and access to the Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost, a complimentary hospitality venue located at No. 17 green offering prime views of the action on the 210-yard par 3. The Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost, open to all members of the military and their dependents, will also provide complimentary food and beverage. Active duty, retired and reserve members of the military will need to present a print-at-home ticket, available at http://www.birdiesforthebrave.com/, and a valid military ID at the gate to gain admission.
In honor of America's Armed Forces and our men and women in uniform, the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf will also feature military announcers on No. 1 tee Friday, April 22 and an American Flag pin flag on No. 17. Military personnel will also serve as standard bearers with certain groups during the competition, Friday-Sunday.
