ENDICOTT, N.Y., -- Dick's Sporting Goods (NYSE:DKS) announced today that it has renewed its commitment as title sponsor of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open through 2012. The Dick's Sporting Goods Open is a Champions Tour event that features well-known PGA TOUR players age 50 and older.

Rated as the Most Improved Event on the Champions Tour in 2008, the tournament provides significant economic impact to the upstate New York community and has generated over $8.6 million to numerous charities over the life of both this Champions Tour event and the previous B.C. Open, a PGA TOUR event that took place in Endicott from 1971-2006.

"As the largest golf retailer in the U.S., we are passionate about the game, and there is no better way to demonstrate that fact to our customers than to be involved at the highest level of golf. We look forward to continuing to make the Dick's Sporting Goods Open a premier event on the Champion's Tour calendar" said Jeffrey R. Hennion, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Dick's Sporting Goods. "As a title sponsor of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open, we are proud to help support local charities while providing economic impact in the community where our company was originally founded"

"We are both encouraged and delighted that a key event on the Champions Tour will continue its presence in Endicott thanks to Dick's Sporting Goods" said Mike Stevens, President of the Champions Tour. "Today's announcement comes on the heels of other recent title sponsors extensions with such events as our Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf event in Savannah, Ga., and bodes well not only for the value of the Champions Tour product, but benefits local communities through charitable contributions."

"Broome County Community Charities, Inc. would like to thank Dick's Sporting Goods for their ongoing support, leadership and contribution to this outstanding community event" said John Karedes, Tournament Director of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open & Broome County Community Charities. "The response and enthusiasm over the past three years from the Greater Binghamton area to host this Champions Tour event has been tremendous and we look forward to continued success."

The 2009 Dick's Sporting Goods Open will be held June 26 - 28. Players currently committed to participate include World Golf Hall of Fame members Hale Irwin and Nick Price plus Joey Sindelar, John Cook, Jeff Sluman, Andy Bean, and Fuzzy Zoeller, among others. Eduardo Romero is the defending champion.
