2016 Charitable Giving

Helping Kids. Changing Lives.

Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast have chipped in to help the Shaw Charity Classic raise $5,217,713 for 124 youth-based charities across Alberta.

It is the fourth straight year Calgary's marquee golf event has set a record for charitable giving on the PGA TOUR Champions, shattering its previous mark of nearly $4 million one year ago. In the tournament's short four-year history, it has now raised a total of more than $13.8 million for children's charities in the province.

In 2017, we are launching the third year of a charitable program called Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink (BFK).BFK is a non-profit program run under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. The Foundation was formed in conjunction with the Shaw Charity Classic golf tournament as the philanthropic arm. The motto for the tournament's charitable efforts is ‘Helping Kids. Changing Lives.'

BFK is a program designed to help raise funds for local charities, engage the community in the tournament, and provide matching funds for each charity involved. The program itself acts as a partnership builder between donors and charities, as all money will flow through the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation towards Alberta charities. All administrative costs and efforts for the program including website administration, credit card fees, promotional materials, invoicing, etc will be covered by the Shaw Charity Classic tournament. This means that 100% of all donated funds through the Foundation will go directly to the charity selected.
