2016 Charitable Giving

Helping Kids. Changing Lives.

In three short years of existence, the tournament has raised over $8.5 million for charity, with children being the primary benefactors of those dollars. Over 125 Alberta-based charities have benefited from the Shaw Charity Classic..

In 2016, we are launching the second year of a charitable program called Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink (BFK). BFK is a non-profit program run under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. The Foundation was formed in conjunction with the Shaw Charity Classic golf tournament as the philanthropic arm. The motto for the tournament's charitable efforts is ‘Helping Kids. Changing Lives.'

BFK is a program designed to help raise funds for local charities, engage the community in the tournament, and provide matching funds for each charity involved. The program itself acts as a partnership builder between donors and charities, as all money will flow through the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation towards Alberta charities. All administrative costs and efforts for the program including website administration, credit card fees, promotional materials, invoicing, etc will be covered by the Shaw Charity Classic tournament. This means that 100% of all donated funds through the Foundation will go directly to the charity selected.

Further extending it's charitable arm, the Shaw Charity Classic is proud to announce its nine official charity partners located across Alberta, including: United Way- All in For Youth, Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary, Calgary Police Foundation, Classroom Champions, Kids Cancer Care, Junior Achievement Southern Alberta, The Alex, Kids Help Phone and KidSport Calgary.

The Shaw Charity Classic has generated over 8.5 million dollars in support of local charities across Alberta. Recognized by the PGA TOUR with an award for outstanding achievement for a first-year event, the Shaw Charity Classic was also the named 2014 and 2015 recipient of the PGA TOUR's prestigious President's Award as the top stop on PGA TOUR Champions.
