World Golf Hall of Famer Nick Price and Masters Champion Larry Mize Headline the Talented Field to Compete at Kapolei Golf Club

HONOLULU (August 15, 2013) - Pacific Links Hawai‘i is pleased to announce that Hall of Famer Nick Price and Masters Champion Larry Mize have officially committed to lead the talented field of golfers competing at the $1.8 million full-field, Pacific Links Hawai‘i Championship at Kapolei Golf Club, this Sept. 16 to 22.

Mize, winner of four PGA Tour events, is renowned for one of golf's most dramatic hole-outs - the sudden death chip that won him the green jacket at the 1987 Masters. In 2013, Mize has cracked the top ten at the Allianz Championship and at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf. He shot 65 in the final round to tie for 6th at the inaugural Pacific Links Hawai‘i Championship in 2012.

Price, a two-time PGA Tour Champion and PGA Player of the Year, has won 18 PGA Tour events and 25 international events. In 2009, he won his first Champions Tour event at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. Raised in Zimbabwe, Price is the Captain of the 2013 Presidents Cup International Team.

Mize and Price join a world-class field of Champions Tour professionals competing for the $270,000 winner's purse. Expected contenders include defending champion Willie Wood; 2013 Champions Tour money leaders Kenny Perry, Bernhard Langer, and David Frost; the winningest player in the Champions Tour history, Hale Irwin; 16-time PGA Tour winner Mark O'Meara; former U.S. Open Champion Corey Pavin; ten-time Champions Tour winner and World Golf Hall of fame inductee Tom Kite; and Champions Tour rookies Rocco Mediate and Steve Elkington.

Proceeds from the Pacific Links Hawai‘i Championship benefit the Pacific Links Hawai‘i Foundation, a non-profit formed to cultivate and sustain programs aiding Hawai'i's ecosystem, keiki and culture. In 2012, the Pacific Links Hawai‘i Foundation gifted a total of $100,000 to Hawai‘i non-profits Ka'ala Farm, Kapolei Community Development Fund, Malama Learning Center, University of Hawai‘i West Oahu and Kupu. The Champions Tour is a membership organization of professional golfers age 50 and older. Conceived in 1980 as the Senior PGA Tour, it started with just four events and purses totaling $475,000. In 2012, tournaments on all five Tours (PGA TOUR, Champions Tour, www.Web.com Tour, PGA TOUR Latinoamerica, PGA TOUR Canada) generated more than $130 million for local charitable organizations, bringing the TOUR's all-time total of charitable contributions to more than $1.85 billion.
