Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf

(Savannah, GA) - The most dominant player in Champions Tour history notched his first victory in 15 months last week at the MasterCard Championship at Hualalai and announced his plans to compete in the 2007 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, Executive Director Tim Iley announced today.  Hale Irwin, winner of a record 45 Champions Tour titles, including the 2004 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, will compete in the stroke-play Legends Division field when the tournament celebrates its 30th anniversary this April 16-22 at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa.

The 1992 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee will look to build on recent success in the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf.  In addition to his victory in 2004, Irwin has three other top-15 finishes since the event added an individual competition in 2002.  The Paradise Valley, AZ resident finished fourth in his last visit to the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa in 2006.  

Joining Irwin in the Legends Division field will be 2006 Champions Tour Rookie of the Year, Eduardo Romero.  Romero enjoyed a solid start to his Champions Tour career, capturing his first victory at the JELD-WEN Tradition, one of five Champions Tour majors, last August.  The Cordoba, Argentina native notched six other top-10's, including a runner-up at the Senior British Open in a playoff.  Despite only playing nine events, Romero finished the year T5 in the Charles Schwab Cup race and 17th on the Champions Tour official money list.  The eight-time European Tour winner will be playing the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf for the first time.

The following team committed to play in the Raphael team division for players age 50-69:

-  Dale Douglass (3 PGA TOUR wins, 11 Champions Tour wins) and Charles Coody (3 PGA TOUR wins, 3 Champions Tour wins).

An additional entry for the Demaret team division (70+) was also received:

-  Tommy Aaron (2 PGA TOUR wins, 1 Champions Tour win) and Bob Toski     (5 PGA TOUR wins).

Tickets are on sale now at Kroger Super Markets throughout Savannah, GA, Waycross, GA, Augusta,GA, Hilton Head, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC and Beaufort SC starting at $25 for a daily pass (The price of single day tickets increases to $30 at the gate).   Weeklong passes are $75 ($65 for age 60+).  Weeklong passes include admission to the Legends Club Pavilion Wednesday-Sunday.  Tickets may also be purchased by calling toll free, 877-942-1123 or visiting the tournament's Web site at www.libertymutuallegends.pgatour.com.
