FOR RELEASE: Thursday, August 16, 2007 Price, Kite join fellow World Golf Hall of Fame members Bernhard Langer and Tom Watson in major championship field Baltimore, MD - World Golf Hall of Fame members Nick Price and Tom Kite, along with Chip Beck, have all committed to play in the 2007 Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, October 1-7 at Baltimore Country Club at Five Farms in Timonium, MD. "Nick Price, Tom Kite and Chip Beck are all tremendous competitors who prove that Champions Tour players bring more than just fun to the tournaments they play," said Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship Executive Director Steve Schoenfeld. "While they are certainly great entertainers, these guys are also out to win golf tournaments, and we look forward to watching them compete for the last major title of the season in October." Nick Price is a member of the Champions Tour's Class of 2007, having qualified to compete on the circuit in January when he turned 50. The South African native owns 18 PGA TOUR titles, including three majors, the 1992 and 1994 PGA Championship and the 1994 British Open Championship. He also captured THE PLAYERS Championship in 1993. Price had one of the most prolific years ever on TOUR in 1994 when he won six times. In his rookie season on the Champions Tour, he has posted two top-10 and five top-25 finishes. He has more than $20 million in career earnings on the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour. Tom Kite is the owner of 19 PGA TOUR and nine Champions Tour titles, including the 1989 PLAYERS Championship and 1993 U.S. Open. He was the first player in PGA TOUR history to reach $6 million, $7 million, $8 million and $9 million in career earnings, and currently sits at more than $22 million. Kite played on seven U.S. Ryder Cup teams and captained the 1997 U.S. Team at Valderrama in Spain. He won twice on the Champions Tour last year, at the AT&T Classic and the Boeing Greater Seattle Classic. The Austin, TX, resident started 2007 off strong by tying for second at the first two events, the MasterCard Championship at Hualalai and the Turtle Bay Championship. Chip Beck was the second player to record a 59 in PGA TOUR history on October 11, 1991, the third round of the Las Vegas Invitational. He made 13 birdies and no bogeys at Sunrise Golf Club and joined Al Geiberger as the only sub-60 shooters in TOUR history at the time. His best year on TOUR came in 1988 when he won the Los Angeles Open at Rivera Country Club and the USF&G Classic at English Turn in Louisiana. Beck helped power the U.S. Ryder Cup Team to victory in 1993 with his singles victory over Barry Lane at The Belfry. Beck played in five events in his first year on the Champions Tour in 2006; he finished second twice and in the top 10 four times. Price, Kite and Beck join an impressive field that already includes defending champion Bobby Wadkins, World Golf Hall of Fame members Bernhard Langer and Tom Watson, Maryland native Fred Funk, Craig Stadler, Jeff Sluman, Jay Haas, Scott Hoch, Denis Watson and Jim Thorpe. Players in the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship will be competing for their share of the $2.6 million purse, which equals the largest purse on the Champions Tour this season. As the last of the Champions Tour majors, with $390,000 going to the winner, the double Charles Schwab Cup points awarded to the top-10 finishers will be a critical factor in deciding the Charles Schwab Cup points race.
