October 3, 2008 - Timonium, MD - The Champions Tour made public today the full field of professionals who will compete for $2.6 million in prize money at the 2008 Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, October 9-12 at Baltimore Country Club in Timonium, MD. The winner's share is $390,000.
The 78 professionals in the field represent nine countries. A total of 68 players have won previously on either the PGA TOUR or Champions Tour, and the field as a whole represents 650 PGA TOUR and Champions Tour victories. Loren Roberts is the defending champion. The full player field and alternate list is included below.
"It is quite impressive that we can say our field represents 650 PGA TOUR and Champions Tour wins," said Tournament Executive Director Steve Schoenfeld. "In addition to offering the largest purse of the year on the Champions Tour, we arguably have assembled the strongest player field of the season."
This year marks the 26th playing of the Senior Players Championship. The format will be a 72-hole (four rounds) medal-play event. The East Course at Baltimore Country Club will play to a Par 70 at 7,010 yards for the Championship. As the last of the Champions Tour majors, the double Charles Schwab Cup points awarded to the top-10 finishers in the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship will be a critical factor in deciding the Charles Schwab Cup points race.
