The Charles Schwab Cup Championship would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of our 2014 volunteers. This certainly was a terrific year with perfect weather and an amazing leaderboard. We truly appreciate all of your dedication and hard work and without all of our volunteers the tournament could not happen. We are grateful for every one of you.

The Impact of a Volunteer

The PGA TOUR relies on more than 100,000 volunteers annually to run its tournaments. Giving back is at the heart of the PGA TOUR and it would not be possible without our volunteers.



2014 Volunteer Committee Descriptions

Admissions/Will Call: Assist with selling tournament tickets at admissions gate, check for proper admission credentials, distribute spectator guides and pairing sheets at all entrance gates, provide general information to spectators, collect prohibited items, and maintain Lost & Found. Responsible for the operation of the Will Call office and assist with distribution of credentials that have been ordered in advance or left for pickup for future rounds.

*FULL* Caddies Services: Assist with Professional Caddie registration and caddie services throughout tournament week. Distribute and collect towels, caddie bibs, wash caddie bibs nightly, etc. On Wednesday of tournament week, assist with registration and management of the Pro-Am Amateur caddie program.

Corporate Hospitality: Provide information and assistance to corporate clients to ensure the best possible experience. Ensure only properly credentialed clients are allowed in private hospitality areas. Assist Marshals with noise control when players approach hospitality areas. Some client interaction necessary.

Course Prep/Construction: Assist with on-course preparation before, during and after the Championship week. This committee will work closely with PGA TOUR operations staff. This committee includes manual labor.

*FULL* Golf Events: Assist with set-up, tear down, registration, operations and event logistics for the following events: Legends of the Game Pro-Am (Monday, Oct. 27), Pairings Party (evening of Tuesday, Oct. 29), Official Pro-Am (Wednesday, Oct. 29), Am-Am (Monday, Nov. 3). Volunteers are required to work three of the four events listed.

*FULL* Honorary Observer Management: Assist with implementation and operation of tournament guests granted access to walk inside the ropes. Assist with logistics, credential distribution, guidelines, escorting guests to #1 tee, and managing photo process.

Long Drive: Record yardage on long drive holes using scoring device provided to you by PGA TOUR staff.

*FULL* Marshals: Responsible for crowd management, gallery noise control and will assist with the player movement on and off the course due to rain delays or whenever deemed necessary. Assigned to a specific hole for the week.

*FULL* Media Services: Assist Media Officials with registration and the welcoming of local and national journalists. Oversee general operation of Media Center.

Office Support: Assist in the Tournament Office prior to and during the tournament by providing general administrative duties to include answering the phones, answering questions, taking ticket orders, and assisting with large mailings.

*FULL* Player Services: Assist PGA TOUR staff in providing exceptional service to the players throughout Championship week. Act as a concierge for the players including player registration and answering questions from the players and/or their family members.

*FULL* Practice Area: Set-up and maintain the practice facility for the players by stocking and distributing practice range balls, drinks, snacks, etc. Provide gallery control of the practice areas and regulate access for the contestants and tournament officials.

*FULL* Shuttles on Course: Assist with golf carts as they are used for shuttles and transportation on course. Responsible for transporting players and caddies to/from specific areas determined and approved by rules committee.

Special Events: Assist with the coordination, set-up, tear down, registration and operations for all special events prior to and during tournament week. Events include, but are not limited to, Media Day, Volunteer Appreciation Party, Youth Clinic, Military Appreciation Day, and other Charles Schwab Cup Championship events.

*FULL* Special Needs Guest Services: Provide cart transportation for disabled spectators to and from the bus drop at the main entrance and disabled parking to designated areas on the golf course.

*FULL* Standard Bearers: Walk inside the ropes carrying standards and marking scores with each group during competitive play and Official Pro-Am (Wed-Sun).

Supply Distribution: Distribute non-alcoholic beverages, coolers on course, and spectator information to appropriate committees. Committee requires lifting of products (ice, beverages, spectator guides, etc.).

Transportation: Provide transportation to players and VIP guests before, during and after the tournament. Assist with the inventory and control the distribution of official tournament vehicles. Committee also assists in the return of vehicles after the tournament. Drivers must be at least 25 years old and provide a valid driver's license. This Committee sometimes requires a lot of downtime due to its unpredictable schedule.

*FULL* TV Spotter: Assist Golf Channel with tournament responsibilities including carrying microphones and equipment for Golf Channel staff.

Volunteer Headquarters: Responsible for the operation and management of the Volunteer Headquarters Tent during tournament week. This is for the exclusive use of credentialed volunteers. Assist with full food and beverage operations within the volunteer dining area. Assist Division Chairmen with Volunteer check-in.

Volunteer Pool: Available "on call" to help out wherever needed; Be on-site during tournament week to assist any Committee that requests extra help at the last minute due to volunteers not showing up for their shift or simply being busier than expected.

Volunteer Uniforms: Inventory and distribute volunteer apparel. Responsibilities include management of uniform distribution, apparel exchanges, sales and returns. Volunteers will need to be available prior to tournament week (various TBD dates in October) to assist with Uniform Distribution.

*FULL* Walking Scorers: Record statistics and scores for players on a Palm Pilot as part of the ShotLink system. Must be able to walk 18 holes and attend a MANDATORY meeting (10/25). Walking scorer Volunteers must work Wednesday (10/29). Each scorer works either Thursday (10/30) or Friday (10/31), and either Saturday (11/1) or Sunday (11/2).
