(Sonoma, CA) - The Champions Tour heads west to Seattle next week and begins it's stretch drive to the season-concluding Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Sonoma (CA) Golf Club.  With eight events preceding the Championship, players have begun to focus on securing one of the coveted top 30 spots on the Official Money List that insures a place in the field.  Keith Fergus currently occupies the 30th spot.  The top 60 through the recent 3M Championship are:

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship returns to the Sonoma Golf Club for the fourth consecutive year, this October 24-29.  The 30 players will compete for $2.5 million, the second largest purse of the 2006 season.

The Championship will again determine the Champions Tour official money winner, as well as the Charles Schwab Cup points champion.  Double Charles Schwab Cup points will be awarded at this year's Championship.  Through the 3M Championship, Loren Roberts leads Jay Haas by 282 points.  With double points also awarded in two weeks at the season's final major championship, the JELD-WEN Tradition, as well as at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, a lot can change between now and the end of October.
