Charles Schwab Cup Championship

Grapes are not the only things crushed in Sonoma each October, as wine country is also host to the best 30 Champions Tour players of 2008, and each drive is ultimately "crushed" for charity. We broadcast Sonoma Valley and its beauty to 44.6 million potential tourists, we absolutely love this Valley, and we are proud to support her.

The Champions Tour's Road to the Charles Schwab Cup is a year long points race that starts every January in Hawaii, and culminates in beautiful Sonoma Valley at the Sonoma Golf Club where the best 30 players compete for $3.5 million in prize money and the coveted Charles Schwab Cup. To date the tournament has returned $1.4 million to area non-profit organizations,  and is projecting reach close to $2 million in charitable contributions after the 2008 Championship. The primary way that these dollars are achieved is by ticket purchases, corporate sponsorships and television revenues. • Each year we work strive to add components to Championship week that will appeal to golf fans and non-golf fans alike," said Leon Gilmore, executive director of the event.  This year we are extremely proud to present Military Appreciation Day on Thursday, October 30 where any military service man or woman can come to the tournament free of charge, with proper military identification, and national recording artist Jasmine Villegas will sing the national anthem. Starting Friday, October 31 through Sunday, November 2 we feature 10 restaurants and 10 wineries, each day, at our wine and food pairing
  festival, and we have added a Jumbotron on the 18th green for exciting live images of the tournament for our guests to enjoy.
  

CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK SCHEDULE

October 28   

• Practice rounds - open to the public (children under 16 are free)
• Youth clinic starting at 4 pm - free for the public

October 29    

• Pro-Am - open to the public (children under 16 are free)

October 30   

• First round of competition (admission with a ticket and children under 16 are free)
• Tee times start around 10 AM
• Military Appreciation Day (military service men and women admitted free with proper military id and children under 16 admitted free).
• National anthem sung by national recording artist Jasmine Villegas

October 31   

• Second round of competition (admission with a ticket and children under 16 are free)
• Wine and Food Pairing Festival 12:30 - 4:30 pm (10 area wineries and 10 area restaurants)

November 1  

• Third round of competition (admission with a ticket and children under 16 are free)
• Wine and Food Pairing Festival 12:30 - 4:30 pm (10 area wineries and 10 area restaurants)

November 2   

• Final round of competition (admission with a ticket and children under 16 are free)
• Trophy ceremony immediately following play - circa 4:15 pm
