While most of the 81-player field for the Shaw Charity Classic chose to get in a practice round at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club on Tuesday, several other players took advantage of an offer to go fishing on the Bow River with Calgary Flames part owner Al Markin, who is also a member of the Shaw Charity Classic Patrons Group. Mark O’Meara, Steve Jones, Olin Browne, Craig Stadler and his wife Jan, and Roger Chapman and his wife Cathy began their adventure early in the morning and returned to the tournament hotel in the early evening.
According to O'Meara, the trip was "spectacular, enjoyable, and the fishing was excellent." The biggest fish caught by the group, who have combined for a total of four PGA TOUR major championships and six Champions Tour major titles, was a 6-pound brown trout, although O'Meara didn't reveal who caught it!
