Weather: Tee times were pushed back until 8:50 a.m. and a two-tee start was again utilized. Lift, clean and place rules were again in effect. A mix of sun and clouds with occasional light showers late in the morning. A thunderstorm moved into the area and dumped one-half inch of rain on the course in a 15-minute period. Play was suspended for the day at 1:49 p.m. as the golf course was deemed unplayable. A total of 66 players were still left on the course at the time of the suspension. Temperatures were in the upper 70s with light winds from the SE at 5-10 mph.
Partial Round 2 Leaderboard: 1 Fred Couples -11 (thru 11 holes); 2 John Huston -9 (thru 15 holes); T3 Jeff Hart 68-65—133 (-7), Duffy Waldorf -7 (thru 14 holes)
Fred Couples made seven birdies through 11 holes to forge a two-stroke lead over John Huston, the first-round leader, before an early afternoon deluge stopped play for the day. Couples shot 5-under 30 on his first nine holes and was coming off back-to-back birdies at Nos. 1-2 when the horns sounded. Huston’s day stopped just after he holed a sand wedge shot from 100 yards out of the right rough for an eagle 2 at the par-4 15th hole.

-- Second-round leaders/co-leaders have gone on to claim 12 of the previous 30 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championships, but it’s happened just twice in the last 14 years – Loren Roberts (2007), Fred Couples (2011). The farthest position anyone has ever come back from to win this championship after 36 holes was Bobby Wadkins (T30) in 2006. 1992 champion Dave Stockton trailed by six strokes halfway through the championship at TPC Michigan, the biggest deficit after two rounds by an eventual winner.
-- Roger Chapman is the last 36-hole leader to go on and win in a major on the Champions Tour. Chapman was tied with John Cook at the halfway mark of the 2012 Senior PGA Championship at The Club at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Mich.
-- Jeff Hart’s 7-under 65 today was his career-low round on the Champions Tour. Hart’s previous-best score was 66 at last year’s Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.
-- The second round of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Round 3 will start at 11:00 a.m. with players going off both the first and 10th tees.
