The Insperity Championship has an earlier slot on the Champions Tour schedule, moving up from last year's October dates.
Brad Faxon, in his sixth start on the Champions Tour, claimed his first victory last year at The Woodlands when the final round was washed out.
Faxon put himself into the pole position with a terrific second-round 7-under-par 65 in difficult conditions. It gave him a 1-shot lead over Tommy Armour III. The Sunday round was finally washed out just before 1 p.m. after torrential rains in the Houston area twice forced delays and eventually made the course unplayable.
