HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship today announced that 2010 champion Mark O'Meara has committed to compete in the 2011 event, which will take place at Westchester Country Club from Aug. 18-21. O'Meara will defend his title against 77 other Champions Tour professionals in what is typically considered to be the best field of the year on the senior circuit.
"The Constellation Energy Senior Players was my first individual win on the Champions Tour, so it meant a lot to me to get the victory," said O'Meara, who participated in a question and answer session during the tournament's annual Media Day at Westchester Country Club. "I look forward to returning to Westchester Country Club to defend my title. It is great to bring professional golf back to the area."
O'Meara captured the 2010 Senior Players at TPC Potomac in Potomac, Md., in a sudden-death playoff against Michael Allen by making par on the first playoff hole. The two completed 72 holes at seven under par. O'Meara's other win on the Champions Tour came at the 2010 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, where he teamed with Nick Price for the victory. O'Meara has 16 wins on the PGA TOUR to his credit including two majors, the 1998 Masters Tournament and the 1998 British Open Championship. He was also named PGA TOUR Player of the Year that year.
