Player notes
Here are some of the players you'll see on the Golf Channel's coverage of Friday's second round
PAT PEREZ
Perez's 12-under 132 sets the tournament record for lowest first 36-hole score. The old record was held by Bill Haas (2011) and Bo Van Pelt (2006) at 10-under 134. Perez is making his eighth start at the Wells Fargo Championship. He has missed four cuts and his best finish is T12 in 2008. Perez has had three second-round leads/co-leads on TOUR. The only one he converted into victory was at the 2009 Bob Hope Classic. In the other two he finished second at the 2002 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and T5 at the 2002 Valero Texas Open. In Perez's last three events coming into this week, he finished T5 at the Valero Texas Open, T6 at The Heritage and missed the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Perez's 65 today is his best round of the season on TOUR.
BILL HAAS
Haas is making his eighth start in the Wells Fargo Championship. His previous best finish was a T4 in 2006. In his 12th start of the season, Haas is looking for his third career TOUR win. His best finish of the year was a playoff loss earlier this year to Jhonattan Vegas at the Bob Hope Classic. Haas has not shot back-to-back rounds in the 60s at the Wells Fargo Championship in 24 careers rounds. A top 10 this week would give Haas four for the season, matching his career-best totals from 2009 and 2010.
LUCAS GLOVER
Byrd is making his eighth start at Quail Hollow this week. He has previously made just one cut, a T5 in 2009. Byrd is making his 11th start of the season. In the year's first event at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, he defeated Robert Garrigus with a par-4 on the second playoff hole to claim his fifth TOUR victory, and second straight in playoff fashion. At last year's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Byrd recorded a hole-in-one on the fourth playoff hole to defeat defending champion Martin Laird and then-rookie Cameron Percy. Byrd missed his last two cuts coming into this week (Masters and The Heritage).
LUCAS GLOVER
Glover is making his eighth start at Quail Hollow this week, a venue where he has enjoyed considerable success over the years. He has missed just one cut in his previous seven starts (2005). Despite that missed cut, he has amassed three top-10 finishes, highlighted by a T2 in 2009. Making his eighth start of the season this week, Glover is in search of his first top-10 finish of the year and first since the 2010 Wyndham Championship in nearby Greensboro. Glover had missed the last three cuts coming into this week (Shell Houston Open, Masters and The Heritage).
PHIL MICKELSON
Glover is making his eighth start at Quail Hollow this week, a venue where he has enjoyed considerable success over the years. He has missed just one cut in his previous seven starts (2005). Despite that missed cut, he has amassed three top-10 finishes, highlighted by a T2 in 2009. Making his eighth start of the season this week, Glover is in search of his first top-10 finish of the year and first since the 2010 Wyndham Championship in nearby Greensboro. Glover had missed the last three cuts coming into this week (Shell Houston Open, Masters and The Heritage).
VIJAY SINGH
Singh made his first cut at the Wells Fargo Championship since 2008. Singh posted his first back-to-back rounds in the 60s at Quail Hollow Club since 2003 (73-72-67-68) when he finished T2. Singh has four top-10 finishes in eight previous starts at the Wells Fargo Championship. His last top 10 here came in 2007 (T7). Singh is looking for his 35th career victory on TOUR and first since 2008. After two rounds, Singh is first in greens hit (32 of 36, 88.9 percent) and T1 in fairways hit (20 of 28, 71.4 percent).
