Mickelson commits to play at Wells Fargo Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Phil Mickelson will play in the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club. Mickelson committed to Charlotte's PGA TOUR event for the eighth time on Wednesday in what will be his first tournament since the Masters.

Mickelson finished second by four strokes to Rory McIlroy a year ago and has five top 10 finishes at Quail Hollow. The tournament begins May 5. Quail Hollow officials are waiting for Tiger Woods' decision.

Players have until April 29 to commit.

The tournament will be Mickelson's final preparation for THE PLAYERS Championship, held the following week at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.
