In my primer for Yahoo!'s Summer Segment that published last week, I noted that Ryan Moore would be a fixture in the Power Rankings as we approach and enter the FedExCup Playoffs. To wit, he was fifth in last week's feature for the Travelers Championship -- he'd go on to share runner-up honors -- and he sits atop this week's edition for the AT&T National, where he finished alone in second place last year.

Aside from the obvious fact that he's a known fantasy commodity, Moore is a wizard on respected venues, particularly Donald Ross designs. In addition to this week's stop at Aronimink, Ross' influences will be on display at Sedgefield Country Club (where Moore claimed his lone PGA TOUR victory in 2009); Plainfield Country Club, which will host The Barclays; and East Lake Golf Course for THE TOUR Championship. That's four of the remaining 12 events in Yahoo!'s Summer Segment, including three of the last five. So, you'll understand when I endorse him and his throwback fashion sense on classic tracks.
Meanwhile, in the first week of the new Matchups game on Facebook, I went 4-0-1 at the Travelers Championship for a maximum 11 points. I'm not eligible for the prizes, but I will always post my picks here if you want to play against me or if you're looking for help making decisions.
My picks for the AT&T National:
Nick Watney over Gary Woodland
K.J. Choi over Adam Scott
Jeff Overton over Harrison Frazar
Vijay Singh over Justin Rose
Charley Hoffman over Bill Lunde
The PGATOUR.com staff also publishes its picks, which you can review here.
Power Rankings Plus
11. Brian Davis ... Veteran gamers already know they need to strike when this iron is hot. Well, he's coming off his first top 10 of the year with a T9 at the Travelers, where he finished inside the top 20 in greens hit and putting, which is always a great sign of a guy dialed in. Currently 28th on the PGA TOUR in GIR and T26 in bogey avoidance.
12. Ryuji Imada ... Enters with a pair of T3s in his last three starts going back to the Byron Nelson. He led the field in greens hit at TPC Four Seasons, and then ranked second in putting at TPC Southwind. He was also inside the top 10 in fairways hit and birdies at both sites. Current splits still reflect a substandard start to his season, but he's 29th in scrambling, which is a secondary premium this week.
13. Gary Woodland ... First-timer at Aronimink who continues to prove he's no one-trick pony capable only of soaring tee balls. He's 14th on TOUR in greens hit and 11th in the all-around. And since his breakthrough at the Transitions three months ago, he's posted four top 25s, his last two starts included.
14. Spencer Levin ... His owners love that he's busy, as this will be his 20th start of the year. He has nine top 20s and ranks 30th on TOUR in greens in regulation. Also a lofty sixth in bogey avoidance.
15. Hunter Mahan ... First start at Aronimink, but ranks 19th in FedExCup Points (sixth-highest in the field as of midday Tuesday) and has seven top 10s in 16 starts this year. Also sits fourth on TOUR in both greens in regulation and the all-around.

Kevin Streelman (C) ... As I've stated on multiple occasions, I don't get bent out of shape on poor results in majors. The variables are too different to lean heavily on (a maximum of) only four weeks out of the year. Streelman squeezed a solo 67th at Congressional into a set of four top 20s in five starts, including a season-best share of sixth at last week's Travelers, where he was lights-out across the board. Yahoo!'s Group C is deep again this week, so make sure he's on your short list. (He withdrew after one round from last year's AT&T National due to an illness in his family.)
D.J. Trahan (B) ... Incredibly encouraging couple of starts entering the week, with top 20s in Memphis and Hartford, the latter of which included a bogey-free 62 in the second round. For a guy who has made a living of hitting greens in regulation, this week's match-up projects that the he'll keep the rally rollin'.
Vaughn Taylor (B) ... He's now gone four months without a top 25, but showed some life early at last week's Travelers en route to a share of 33rd place. He's been one of the most consistent long-term owns in fantasy games for years, so you know that all he needs is that kind of spark to get hot. Finished T11 here last year.
Blake Adams (B) ... Top 20s in three of his last four starts, including his last two. His T9 at the Travelers is a season-best. The objective is the same as it always has been here; that is, pounce while he's able to produce given the history of his injuries.
Trevor Immelman (C) ... This is strictly for the most devoted of course-history buffs. The South African was the runner-up at the U.S. Junior Amateur at Aronimink in 1997. (Jason Allred won the tournament.) Immelman is 0-for-4 going back to Colonial and didn't play in last year's AT&T National.
Erik Compton (B) ... Won the Nationwide Tour's Mexico Open on Sunday to move into second place on that circuit's money list and into excellent position to earn a PGA TOUR card for 2012. Moreover, he closed with an eight-birdie 65. Gamers that have dipped their toes in him in the past have usually pulled back on the reins by the final round. Compton himself has cited that the fatigue of going 18 holes for four straight days takes a toll on his transplanted heart. Yet, he ranks 22nd on the developmental tour in final-round scoring average. (He also closed out a T25 at the Northern Trust Open earlier this year with a 65.)
Danger (Yahoo! Group)
Justin Rose (B) ... The defending champion took last week off after missing the cut at the U.S. Open; it was his fifth consecutive start without a top 25, and that's after starting the year with eight top 25s in his first nine events. He's third on TOUR in greens hit and 29th in bogey avoidance, but his recent play doesn't support an investment for his second of two title defenses. He missed the cut at the Memorial earlier this month.
K.J. Choi (A) ... While I've chosen him over Adam Scott in the Matchups game, I'm concerned about Choi's relative slide of three finishes outside the top 20 since maxing out four consecutive top 10s with the playoff victory at THE PLAYERS. This is also his first look at Aronimink.
Jim Furyk (A) ... Missed the Travelers cut to extend his drought of top 20s to eight consecutive starts. That's the longest since he went 16 in a row in his sophomore season of 1995.
Sean O'Hair (B) ... The Aronimink member gets to sleep in his own bed this week, and he's stated that his confidence is growing, but gamers only care about results, and they haven't been good lately. Consider him a flier with a quantifiable upside, but understand the risk.
Anthony Kim (C) ... With last week's missed cut at the Travelers, he's now gone nine straight starts without a top 50.
Bryce Molder (B) ... Despite last year's T25 here, his short-term value is always best reserved for the shorter tracks on the schedule. Each of his top 25s this year occurred on tracks that measure under 6,850 yards -- Pebble Beach and TPC River Highlands. His reemergence last week after months of struggling was certainly encouraging, but he does not fit the course profile at Aronimink as well as other courses where he's missed cuts recently.

Tom Gillis (B) ... In a vacuum, since learning that he had a fractured vertebra in his lower back a few months ago, it was no surprise that a man perhaps best known among gamers for leading the PGA TOUR in birdie average last year would post his first top 10 at the birdiefest that is the Travelers Championship. However, this week's test is more difficult in that he won't have the luxury of being as aggressive. Also finished outside the top 25 in all relevant splits last week (i.e. fairways, greens, putting).
Medic! (Yahoo! Group)
Rocco Mediate (C) ... Managed to log only nine holes at last week's Travelers, withdrawing from a recurring elbow injury. It's his fourth WD in 15 starts this year, and he's yet to post a top 50 in a full-field event.
Notable WDs (Yahoo! Group)
Fredrik Jacobson (C) ... Withdrew on Monday following his breakthrough victory in Connecticut. In position to receive one of two exemptions into the British Open via a special money list. The top two not already eligible following the AT&T National will be headed to Royal St. George's.
Ernie Els (A) ... In his weekly diary, he wrote that he has a "slight back strain." He's planning on returning at next week's Scottish Open on the European Tour.
Ben Crane (B) ... No explanation was released, but ever since he withdrew from the Byron Nelson pro-am on May 25, he's 3-for-4 with one MDF (St. Jude) and no top-55 finishes.
Heath Slocum (A) ... Top 20s the last two weeks. Now has three on the year.
