ATLANTA -- The TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola and Capitol Records Nashville announced today that country music sensation, avid golfer and philanthropist Darius Rucker will participate in the event's Community Day with a special musical appearance on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. near the driving range at East Lake Golf Club. All Wednesday ticket holders at the TOUR Championship will receive free admission to the concert. The TOUR Championship's Community Day includes a series of engaging activities for the youth of Atlanta, expectant wives of military personnel and golf fans of all ages.
In addition to several hits from his latest album and a few past selections, Rucker will be performing "Together, Anything is Possible" with a chorus from East Lake's Drew Charter School. It is a song that Rucker wrote and produced as part of a partnership with the PGA TOUR. All proceeds of the song downloads from iTunes are donated to PGA TOUR Charities, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. In turn, 100 percent of these funds will be used to directly support various PGA TOUR charities, including The First Tee, a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to impacting the lives of young people through the game of golf.
"We're thrilled to bring Darius Rucker to East Lake Golf Club and the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, to help us bring our fans together and showcase all that the TOUR Championship, the East Lake Foundation and the PGA TOUR do for our community," said TOUR Championship Executive Director Todd Rhinehart. "Darius has supported golf and the PGA TOUR through his involvement in many of our tournaments and through his music. His talents as a world-renowned musician are only matched by his dedication to giving back to charity."
The first event of TOUR Championship Community Day will begin at 11 a.m. with Operation Shower, held at the Patriots Outpost presented by Kipper Tool on the 16th green of East Lake Golf Club. Operation Shower is a baby shower for the expectant wives of current military personnel, hosted by the TOUR Championship through the TOUR's military outreach initiative, Birdies for the Brave.
The TOUR Championship's Iberostar Youth Clinic begins at 4 p.m. on the practice range with a performance by trick shot master, Peter Johncke. The Verizon Wireless Celebrity Shootout, featuring Rucker and several other local celebrities, begins at 5 p.m. at the par-3 6th hole.
"We are very proud of all the activities offered to our fans for Community Day," Rhinehart said. "We hope fans understand what a tremendous value they are getting. For just $20, you get to attend a practice round at the PGA TOUR Playoffs finale, see the best golfers on the PGA TOUR, catch our youth clinic, watch local celebrities in our Verizon Wireless Celebrity Shootout and see a one-of-a-kind performance by a world-class musician."
MasterCard cardholders will have access to a special VIP front row area of the concert when they present their MasterCard card for entry. Wednesday ground tickets are still needed in order to enter concert area. Tickets are available at pgatour.com/ttc or at Kroger for only $20. Youth 18 and younger admitted free with ticketed adult.
