ATLANTA -- Before the 4th of July weekend fell too far in the rearview mirror, officials with the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola announced several military initiatives for this year's finale to the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup on September 21-25 at historic East Lake Golf Club.
The TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola is proud to support the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families through a variety of Birdies for the Brave military outreach activities that will be taking place throughout tournament week.
To show appreciation to the courageous members of the military, the TOUR Championship invites all active duty, retired and Reserve military members and their dependents to join us at the tournament all week free of charge, with a valid military ID. For more information and to obtain your military ticket(s), please visit www.BirdiesfortheBrave.com.
The TOUR Championship will feature numerous events designed to honor and show appreciation to military members and their families. On Wednesday, September 21, Community Day, the TOUR Championship will partner with Operation Shower to host a baby shower for expectant military moms whose spouses are injured or deployed. Thursday, Sept. 22, will be recognized as Military Appreciation Day, with a special military appreciation ceremony hosted on the first tee one hour prior to the first tee time.
Finally, the tournament will host all military members at the Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost presented by Kipper Tool. The Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost, a hospitality venue dedicated exclusively to military members and their dependents, will serve as their home base at the golf tournament. Open Thursday through Sunday, The Patriots' Outpost will offer complimentary food and beverages, as well as great views of the 16th green. "We are happy to support our nation's men and women in uniform and their families," said Executive Director Todd Rhinehart. "The tournament, the PGA TOUR and our players value the sacrifice that the men and women in uniform and their families make for our country."
Birdies for the Brave is a national military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR. Originally created by TOUR player Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, Birdies for the Brave includes rehabilitative golf clinics and special opportunities for wounded warriors; military appreciation activities during TOUR events; and fundraising events held at TPC clubs nationwide -- an effort that has raised more than $6.5 million for nine military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services for military men and women and their families.
