MORE INTERVIEWS: Viking Classic transcript archive

Q. Well, another good start, two years in a row. How do you feel like you're playing today?

BRENDON DE JONGE: I played nicely today. The whole group played well. We definitely helped each other. It was nice.

Q. Kind of nice to be in a group where everyone seems to be playing pretty well.

BRENDON DE JONGE: Yeah, we made a bunch of birdies in the group. It was nice. Kept the momentum going.

Q. Can you talk about the course and the difference between, I guess, the fall and the summer. It was really nice out here.

BRENDON DE JONGE: It was soft out here. It's rained just about every day. So the course is going to be soft, and the scoring is going to be good. Course is in great shape as well.

Q. Clean and play is a pretty big advantage today too?

BRENDON DE JONGE: The ball is picking up a lot of mud out there. The cleaner was a big help.

Q. You didn't have any bogeys on the card. What do you attribute that to?

BRENDON DE JONGE: I kept it in play most of the day. I gave myself a lot of birdie looks.

Q. Fairways, greens, what were you you can only move in the fairways. Were you hitting a lot of them?

BRENDON DE JONGE: Yeah, I did. I hit a lot of fairways, and then obviously it's a lot easier to hit the greens. It gets tougher when you hit it in the rough and you're trying to judge the lies. Bermuda is always difficult.
