SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Friday's resumption of the first round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open has been delayed again because of frost. Play will now begin at 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. local time). Play was delayed four hours on Thursday and none of the players who teed off in the afternoon wave finished their rounds.
Wary of another hard freeze as temperatures overnight dipped into the mid-20s, tournament officials had decided to start play on Friday at 9:30 a.m. local time (11:30 a.m. ET) before announcing the morning's first delay. The temperature at TPC Scottsdale is currently 30 degrees and the freeze warning continues until 10 a.m. local time (noon ET). The high is supposed to rise into the mid-50s, though, so conditions should improve quickly. .
