The second round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open will be delayed. First-round play will resume at 11:30 a.m. ET and second-round play will likely begin later Friday afternoon. The Golf Channel will televise live action beginning at 4 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local time).

FROM THE TOUR REPORT:

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Friday's resumption of the first round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open has been delayed again because of frost. Play will now begin at 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. local time). Play was delayed four hours on Thursday and none of the players who teed off in the afternoon wave finished their rounds.

Wary of another hard freeze as temperatures overnight dipped into the mid-20s, tournament officials had decided to start play on Friday at 9:30 a.m. local time (11:30 a.m. ET) before announcing the morning's first delay. The temperature at TPC Scottsdale is currently 30 degrees and the freeze warning continues until 10 a.m. local time (noon ET). The high is supposed to rise into the mid-50s, though, so conditions should improve quickly. .

STORYLINES FOR FRIDAY:
• The first round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open will conclude after Thursday's late start.
Phil Mickelson thrives on Thursday at TPC Scottsdale.

Another hard freeze will melt off Friday morning at TPC Scottsdale, then cool temperatures will settle in the afternoon with winds at 5 mph.
Player Notes
Here are some of the players you'll see on the Golf Channel's coverage of Friday's second round
• Phil Mickelson shot his best opening round (67) at the Waste Management Phoenix Open since a 64 in 2004 (T7).
• Jhonattan Vegas, who is the first rookie to lead the FedExCup at any point of a season since its inception in 2007, shot a 1-under 70 in the first round.
• All 12 players that finished among the top 10 last week at the Farmers Insurance Open are in this week's Waste Management Phoenix Open field. Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Jhonattan Vegas, D.A. Points, Anthony Kim, Hunter Mahan, Nick Watney, Bill Haas, Marc Leishman, Troy Matteson and Brandt Snedeker.
• Six former Arizona State Sun Devils are competing in the Waste Management Phoenix Open this week: Matt Jones, Phil Mickelson, Pat Perez, Billy Mayfair, Jeff Quinney and Chez Reavie. Mayfair (15 made cuts, four top-10s) is making his 25th career start at the event.
• The last 10 champions of the Waste Management Phoenix Open dating to 2001 have combined for just two bogeys on the par-3 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale. Phil Mickelson (1996) was the last player to win the event playing the 16th hole above par for the week.
