Three share lead at Mexico Open

LEON, Guanajuato, Mexico -- Matthew Giles of Australia, Nicholas Thompson of the United States and Oscar Fraustro of host Mexico are tied for the lead at 11-under par midway through the third round of the Nationwide Tour's Mexico Open presented by Banamex, which was suspended due to darkness.

Play is scheduled to resume at 7:45 a.m. local time on Sunday morning.

Giles jumped into contention with four birdies and an eagle on Saturday through the 13 holes he completed at the El Bosque Country Club before play was halted.

Thompson is 3-under par with nine holes of third-round play left, while local favorite Fraustro is 1 under on the day playing the ninth hole.

One shot back at 11-under par are Richard H. Lee of the United States and Peter Lonard of Australia. They have eight and nine holes, respectively, to play before completing their third rounds.

Second-round leader Casey Wittenberg of the United States dropped four shots to par through nine holes of play on Saturday and stands at 9-under par.

Weather has been a factor the first three days of the Mexico Open. The tournament site, which is located 125 miles northwest of Mexico City, has been without significant rain for several months.
