Chris DiMarco, Arron Oberholser and Craig Perks offered their thoughts on the Top 100

In the spirit of the season, PGATOUR.COM went to its own "Three Wise Men" to offer perspective on the fourth annual Top 100 Players to Watch list.

The three pros -- Chris DiMarco, Arron Oberholser and Craig Perks -- are at different stages of their careers. But all three are astute observers of the game and perceptive about their peers.

DiMarco is a three-time winner on TOUR who has played on two Presidents Cup and two Ryder Cup teams. Known as a fiery competitor, DiMarco worked his way back into the all-exempt top 125 for 2012 where he'll regularly battle the pros he analyzed in the top 100.

Oberholser, who won the 2006 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, also hopes to be competing on a regular basis next year. He is on the comeback trail after missing the bulk of the last three years due to damage to the hamate bone in his left hand that reguired four operations and another surgery on his right hip. Oberholser, who has done some work for the PGA TOUR Network on Sirius XM, hopes to return to competition at the Humana Challenge in January.

On the other hand, Perks, who won the 2002 PLAYERS with an eagle-birdie-par finish, has retired. The affable New Zealander is now the director of golf at La Triomphe Golf & Country Club in Broussard, La. He stays in touch with competition at its highest level as an analyst for the Golf Channel on broadcasts of PGA TOUR and Nationwide Tour events.

Perks typed his thoughts into the computer after combing the stat pages, just as he does when he's covering tournaments on TV. Oberholser also put his impressions on paper, writing each entry out by hand. DiMarco offered his up during a wide-ranging conversation as he drove from Orlando to Naples to play in this weekend's Franklin Templeton Shootout.

Even though their methods differed, all three took the assignment seriously. Read what Perks, Oberholser and DiMarco said and you'll have an even better picture of your favorite PGA TOUR pros.
